1. Project Name: ADB TA 7231-BAN: Preparing City Region Development Project

Narrative Description of the Project:
Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved the PPTA 7231-BAN: Preparing City Region Development Project (the PPTA) in January 2009. The ensuing project, City Region Development Project (the Project) is expected in 2010. The Project covers Dhaka City Region (Dhaka City Corporation, surrounding Pourashavas and urban centers), and Khulna City Region (Khulna City Corporation, surrounding Pourashavas and urban centers). The potential subprojects include transport within and between cities, industrial estates, logistics facilities, market structures, water supply, sanitation, solid waste management and institutional development program. Water supply components in city corporation areas will be excluded, since separated projects are ongoing or planned in both Dhaka and Khulna.
Role on the Assignment
Our responsibilities included social safeguards (resettlement and indigenous peoples) and social development (e.g., poverty and social assessment including gender planning) of the Project in accordance with ADB’s policies and guidelines. All Resettlement and Indigenous People's Planning will be done in strict accordance with ADB's new Safeguards Policy Statement (June 2009) and Operational Procedures (Operations Manual OM F1/BP and OP (issued on 20 January 2010). The responsibilities also include supervising and providing guidance to two national consultants: one national social safeguard specialist and one national social Development/gender Specialist engaged under the Consulting Firm to compile information and conduct basic analytical work.

Our responsibilities were to prepare social safeguards documents for processing the tranche-II loan which includes Resettlement plans, input for RRP and input on Indigenous Peoples.
3. Project Name: Transaction structuring for providing 24/7 water supply for four towns in coastal Karnataka on PPP basis.

Narrative Description of the Project:
Preparing environmental impact reports for towns of Mangalore and Udupi, if any, and develop these so as to provide an ADB compliant impact assessment of the project.
Role on the Assignment
As environmental consultant, we were responsible for preparing environmental impact reports for towns of Mangalore and Udupi, if any, and develop these so as to provide an ADB compliant impact assessment of the project; the analysis will therefore reconfirm the environmental categorization screening in accordance with ADB’s Environment Policy. Also, responsibilities include providing assistance in drafting clauses in the Concession Agreement pertaining to mitigating the environment impact of the project and Responding to pre-bid queries (if any) on aspects pertaining to environment impact of the project and its management
